By lunchtime, you’ll be pulling up a seat for a gourmet lunch in Margaret River followed by an afternoon tasting your way through the iconic wine region. Come 6 pm, check into your lakeside room at one of Australia’s best boutique hotels. Set among 40 acres of manicured parkland and vineyards, Cape Lodge is an idyllic base to escape the demands of everyday life. Tonight, you will dine at the celebrated Cape Lodge Restaurant, where Margaret River produce sourced from the land and sea is centre-stage of the classically prepared French-influenced menu.
Day 2: Thursday
Wake up to the sound of birds, not your alarm and linger in bed as long as you please. Take your time indulging in a gourmet breakfast served in your room, then unwind during a one-and-a-half-hour spa treatment of your choice. Next on your agenda is an outdoor, hands-on gourmet cooking class with one of Australia’s most loved and recognised chefs –Tony Howell. Learn to recreate a signature seasonal dish, then sit down for a gourmet wine-paired lunch on the beach.
The remainder of the afternoon is dedicated to connecting with the Margaret River landscape, and the people who call it home. Wadandi custodian-Josh “Koomal” Whiteland will introduce you to the world’s oldest living culture on a two-hour private tour of Cape Naturaliste. Learn about native flora and fauna, bush medicine and hear local stories as you wander along a section of the iconic Cape to Cape Track. Then, meet at a private meeting place where you will see an artefact display and be mesmerised by a live didgeridoo performance. This is a truly soul-stirring experience.
Before day’s end, soak in breathtaking vistas at one of the most romantic and secluded spots in the Margaret River wine region – Bunker Bay. Finally, wander down to the Other Side of the Moon restaurant at the Pullman Bunker Bay Resort. Sample the contemporary Australian menu underpinned by Indigenous ingredients and watch sunset and moonrise over the ocean.

With sweeping ocean views, it’s also an excellent place for whale watching from August to December. Following breakfast, see the beautiful Margaret River mouth and the world-famous surf break at Surfers Point, then wander through the vibrant township of Margaret River, home to an eclectic mix of boutique stores and galleries.
Your Margaret River escape culminates in a tailor-made sourdough workshop at the iconic One Table Farm and Cooking School in Cowaramup. Taste a variety of breads and graze on fresh farm-to-plate organic produce. End with a tour of the 100-acre sustainable farm. Senses awakened and soul tamed, return to Perth around 6 pm.
