Central West Tours Cycling Cowra 

Our tour starts at Cowra, Woodstock, Canowindra, Gooloogong, Eugowra, Grenfell,
Greenethorpe and Koorawatha, The Central West Region is very scenic and picturesque
region known as the golden circle of food production across all sectors grain, vegetables,
wine and meat. You will be able to taste the fresh produce.  The roads are 90% gravel back
roads with low traffic carefully selected so that you can peacefully enjoy the scenery and
highlights of our region. You will visit the Japanese Garden, Peace Bell, POW Camp,
Age of Fishes Museum and the Canowindra Historical Museum.  Learn and visit the history
of Ben Hall, the hold ups, shoot outs and the Hideouts. 

The region has a Lot of War time history. The locals have enthusiastically embraced
this new cycling tour and are looking forward to welcoming and providing country
style hospitality.

Itinerary Details       

 Day 0:          Pre-Tour                   Stay Cowra

Arrive at Cowra Motor Inn and prepare your bike and equipment for the cycle tour.
Relax and get ready for dinner, meet the other tour cyclists and Central West Tour staff

 Day 1:            Cowra to Woodstock        58km          

Stay Cowra

We will cycle along quite country road to a picturesque farm to learn about a new
breed of beef cattle whilst enjoy morning tea. The tour continues to the historical town
of Woodstock hotel, then back to Cowra through beautiful country side along bitumen
road. Bellevue Hill Reserve Lookout is breath-taking view of Cowra and the region.

Day 2:            Cowra to Canowindra       45km             

Stay Canowindra

We will visit the Peace and the Information Centre to see the Hologram and the local
produce. We ride thru highly productive farm land which may give an opportunity to get
photos of Canola (yellow flower) depending on the season.  Canowindra is the town
that was taken over by Ben Hall and his gang, we will show you the site of the hotel.
Visit to the Ages of Fishes Museum and Historical Museum.

Day 3:             Canowindra to Gooloogong       53km             

Stay Gooloogong

We pass the discovery site of fish fossils. We will cross over the Lachlan River before
reaching Gooloogong.  Gooloogong Park has a lot of historical boards detailing the rail
line history and history of the town.  Ben Hall to hid from Troopers in the cellar of the
house just outside of Gooloogong and we will visit this historical house.

Day 4:            Gooloogong to Eugowra                         36km          

Stay Eugowra

Eugowra is the town of Murals, morning coffee break on wards for 5km to visit
Escort Rocks where 8 bushrangers including Ben Hall ambushed and robbed the
gold coach. Back 5km to Eugowra and view the amazing murals of the historic town.
Settle into the hotel, meet the locals and enjoy the evening talking about the exploits
of bushrangers and who painted the  murals.

Day 5:             Eugowra to Grenfell                      75km                         

Stay Grenfell

The tour takes us to the historical town of Grenfell and the birthplace of Henry Lawson. 
The town is a quaint little town with boutique shops, art galleries and Ben Halls Cave.
Lunch will be supplied by Central West Tours at beautiful picnic spot in the taking
beautiful landscapes.

Day 6:            Rest Day                                                                              

Stay Grenfell

Take some time out and enjoy this beautiful country town. Visit the beautiful pubs, cafes
and coffee shops. Visit the information Centre to find the hidden Gems. Ben Hall Cave is
an optional loop and well worth the time, you can cycle it or a bus is provided.  

Day 7:            Grenfell to Koorawatha                52km             

Stay Koorawatha

We will ride the gravel road alongside the Grenfell to Koorawatha rail line and make our
way to the Café CIRCA 1935 for a coffee and a rest.  The hilly country is spectacular as we
travel to Koorawatha. 
Old Bang Bang Hotel site is where a shootout occurred with troopers and Ben Hall.
The Koorawatha Falls the sound of running water is very tranquil and peaceful.

Day 8:            Koorawatha to Cowra                    33km                        

Stay Cowra

Easy day back to Cowra, the route is mainly flat on gravel road following the rail line.  
On arrival of Cowra we will visit the Japanese Garden and lunch will be provided. 
The afternoon is yours to discover Cowra

Day 9:            Cowra:          Depart

Depart or stay an extra day to further explore and enjoy the attractions of
Cowra and the Central West.

All Tours require comfortable walking shoes, weather appropriate clothing and sunscreen.
